Four of Pentacles - #TarotImageTuesday
Good evening!! it's #TarotImageTuesday, sponsored today by a set of technical problems, and pernickety glitches, hence the evening post :-p
This week, it's the Four of Pentacles, and I've selected the The Fey Tarot.
In this quirky version of the Four of Pentacles, we see a little imp shackled and chained to a large coin that he has no way of lifting or moving with ease.
He wears a motley style hat in green, which would show that perhaps what at first was a desire for growth or increase has now reached that point where it's tipped with those gold rings, very similar to the links of the chain that now hold him in place - his thinking was, and potentially still is, limited to short term gain, money or assets, rather than long term wealth or security.
He looks glum and dejected, slightly bemused by the fact that he's got what he wanted, but it's come with a set of provisos or restrictions that are now holding him back from moving further.
Interestingly, in a nod to the chains of the Devil card, the key is on the floor and within reach, but to free himself from his chains, he'd need to risk losing touch with his beloved coin, leaving him with a conundrum.
The touch i love in this image is the gold balls dangling from his tunic - they're very reminiscent of the golden balls you'd see outside a pawnbrokers shop, usually a sign of constrained or limited cash-flow that needs some trade or value to liquidise or free-up funds from otherwise static assets.
What do you see in the image? I'd love to hear your thoughts on it, and we can share the similarities and differences between the images in the various decks!
