Nine of Wands - #TarotImageTuesday

Good morning!! it's #TarotImageTuesday

This week, it's the Nine of Wands, and I've selected the Idiosyncradeck tarot.

Nine of Arrows from the Idiosyncradeck Tarot

I've become rather attached to this deck, and its quirky and unusual perspective!

The traditional RWS imagery shows a man surrounded by upright wands forming a kind of makeshift barricade, his head bandaged, looking out warily at the world beyond. In the Idiosyncradeck version, a battered and broken arrow, roughly mended and misshapen, continues its journey to target against the harsh elements and over unforgiving terrain.

It's less watch and wait, and more 'continue on' as if it's imbued with a sense of purpose, it's experiences shaped it, but not deterred it from its goal. The wobbly, rickety journey ahead is still achievable, it will just take a little more effort, skill and direction in striking its target.

Adversity seems more of a challenge than a force to dissuade this particular arrow - it has much to teach us, embracing our weirdly shaped curves and edges, and moving on despite setbacks and negative experiences, to embrace the possibilities and to press bravely on, allowing the journey to shape us for when we reach our destination.

What do you see in the image? I'd love to hear your thoughts on it, and we can share the similarities and differences between the images in the various decks!

The Idiosyncradeck Tarot is self-published by the super friendly and super talented Jessica Bott. Images are © and used with kind permission. The deck can be purchased directly from the artist at her Etsy store and there's a Tumblr by the artist as well.
