The Lovers - #TarotImageTuesday
Good morning!! it's #TarotImageTuesday
This week, it's The Lovers, and I've selected the Robo Tarot deck.
This is a funky retro-modern take on the Lovers image - we see a skeletal style android, head tilted, smiley faced, and with hearts in his eyes, as he holds in his hands a nut and bolt.
It's kitsch and retro styling is one that never fails to raise a smile, with the obviously saucy implications of, well, you know...screwing the bolt into the nut...nudge, nudge, wink, wink. Of couse, its wider implication is that the Lovers represents only a part, rather than the whole, where we feel connection - that a part of one person recognises a part of another, or that, in order to build or create, a choice needs to be made about how that will be achieved.
The background is a traditional heart, sketched behind the android, and the lovely touch for the cards is that they're counted in binary - so 0110 at the top of the image is 6 when expressed in a decimal/numeric system.
What do you see in the image? I'd love to hear your thoughts on it, and we can share the similarities and differences between the images in the various decks!
The Robo Tarot is self-published by artist and designer Peter Hague, and the deck is (occasionally!) available from their Etsy store
