Eight of Wands - #TarotImageTuesday
Good morning!! it's #TarotImageTuesday This week, it's the Eight of Wands, and I've selected the Urban Tarot deck.
This is a great take on the Eight of Wands, set in a modern context. The wands themselves make up the spokes of the bicycle for what appears to be a pizza delivery guy, and it adds a certain nuanced meaning to the energies of the card...
Rather than being the 'flowing in the same direction' arrows or wands that we'd usually see, shooting through the sky to their destination, here the energy is more grounded, imbued with an urgency that the delivery is made, so that they 'get it while it's hot', but also within that sense of urban sprawl it mightn't be a straight line to the destination, and there might be some sharp turns, fast moving obstacles or pot holes to be avoided en route.
The way that the Wands are presented gives a feeling of the Wheel of Fortune, as well, reinforcing that this version of the Eight mightn't be all plain sailing and straight forward 'dash to the target', instead experiencing those twists and turns, highs and lows, and stops and starts of urban life.
What do you see in the image? I'd love to hear your thoughts on it, and we can share the similarities and differences between the images in the various decks!
The Urban Tarot is by the rather gifted artist Robin Scott, the deck is self published, and the image is © Robin Scott, and the deck is available from her website
