The Chariot - #TarotImageTuesday
Good morning!! it's #TarotImageTuesday
This week, it's the The Chariot, and I've selected the The Tarot of the Magical Forest.
This version of The Chariot is sure to raise a smile...it's RWS-sympathetic in its content, but throughout this deck, it's the expressions that really make the difference. The hedgehog charioteer holds a sceptre in his right hand, the symbol of command and control, and the reins in his left, suggesting that control is within his grasp...but his eyes betray a sense of "oh holy fuckeroo!" as the chariot he's in charge of careens along at increasing speeds and seemingly not entirely under his full command!
The two water buffalo pulling the chariot, sporting their individual white and black blankets, crowd the lower part of the image, making their presence felt, but they too lack the usual sense of influence on the route taken, and instead express feelings of "sweet mother of gods, where are we going?!", and "who's driving this handcart straight to hell, anyway?!" respectively.
As a version of the Chariot, it definitely lacks the sense of direction or scattering of energies usually portrayed, more capturing an essence of wild careening with only the illusion of control - certainly a challenge to any budding charioteer, looking to take control of their own destiny against the odds!
What do you see in the image? I'd love to hear your thoughts on it, and we can share the similarities and differences between the images in the various decks!
