The Spiral Spread

Very often, when we look at a situation, we only see the surface detail to it - whether it's the initial expression, or the hurdle that is being faced in a situation. If we take the time to delve deeper into those situations, to really examine the opportunities we're being given, and how we can rise up to take full advantage of the situation, while simultaneously drilling down to find out what the root causes or hidden issues truly are.

The first card for each arm of the spiral, right in the centre, shows us the situation as it presents itself to us on the surface - the bits that we can see, experience and interact with, without looking beyond the initial aspects.

- side

-1 Challenge or negative to situation

+ side

+1 Opportunity or positive to situation

In each case, this has unseen factors associated with it, things just out of sight that, if we can get a handle on, will allow us to gain deeper insight, understand the motivations, and utilise that information to assist with resolving, overcoming and achieving.

-2 Being undermined by...

+ side

+2 Allowing you to build upon/take advantage of...

When we understand those motivations or unseen factors, we can then work out where the situation will lead us next - for good or ill, so that we can be prepared for those experiences, avoiding them completely or minimising their impact, in the case of negatives, or embracing and maximising their potential in the case of positives!

-3 Leading to...

+ side

+3 Leading to...

And then finally, we see how those situations will resolve themselves, either rooting themselves into responses, behaviours or actions, or expressing themselves based upon that process of working through the issues identified by cards 2 and 3 in each arm...

-4 Which roots itself here...

+ side

+4 Which expresses itself by...

So The Challenge (card -1) situation as we see it, is being undermined or fuelled by the unseen factors identified by card -2, which will lead to card -3, which will root itself into card -4. By understanding the influences that card -2 has on the core situation, we can potentially offset the effects realised in card -3, and prevent -4 from taking root.

Similarly, the Opportunity (card +1) as it's revealed to us, allows us to take advantage of the influences of card +2 which are working in the background, which leads us to card +3 enabling us to work to embrace those further opportunities as they arise, before the situation fully expresses itself in card +4.
