Ten of Swords - #TarotImageTuesday
Good morning!! it's #TarotImageTuesday
This week, it's the Ten of Swords, and I've selected the Fey Tarot.
It's an interesting take on what is usually one of the most graphic and easily recognised cards from the Tarot. In the Fey Tarot version, there is only a single sword in the image, and it is broken. The focus instead is on the fate of the fey creature that is presumably attempting to steal the sword, and instead meets disaster, in the form of a midas-like curse, where her body starts to dissolve, transmuting into gold in the process.
Her reaction shows that this turn of events was most unexpected, and even the sword itself, which should have been a valuable prize, is instead either not the high quality artifact that was worth stealing, or was potentially the trap, made to lure out the unsuspecting and unwary.
The blue skin of the fey creature seems cold in comparison to the vibrant red walls in the background, even before this disaster strikes. It's quite an innocuous environment in which to suffer such an ignominious fate - the cold bare tiles belying an otherwise horrific fate for the poor creature.
What do you see in the image? I'd love to hear your thoughts on it, and we can share the similarities and differences between the images in the various decks!
