The Sun - #TarotImageTuesday
Good morning!! it's #TarotImageTuesday
This week, it's the The Sun, and I've selected the Manga Tarot.
In this deliciously bright image, we see a flaxen-haired warrior, (with just a hint of Brad Pitt's character Achilles in the film Troy?!) walking with childlike innocence through a field of golden wheat, his hands tracing lightly over the ripe crop.
Six pennants flutter in the breeze, reminiscent of the Six of Rods sense of victory, and his breastplate is adorned by a golden dragon, symbol of fire, strength, authority and victory - both a reminder of the sense of personal happiness, joy and celebration that is eschewed by this card.
A gloriously large sun beats down upon the scene, also forming a halo around the head and shoulders of our warrior figure, suggesting that the scope of that happiness and success is a personal one, and may be limited to our immediate area, but is essentially under out control.
Finally, we see the kanji for 'summer' in the top right of the image, reminding us of the growth that has occurred so far, and that things are at the height of their power, before the autumn harvest and the winter fallow periods, and is also a symbol used to convey the feelings of 'great', 'grand' or 'big' - just like the Sun and its scope and ability to reach those areas that we allow it to shine into.
What do you see in the image? I'd love to hear your thoughts on it, and we can share the similarities and differences between the images in the various decks!
